Study LPU Crossed 300 Active Students.

What I learned about building for a community you belong to — and why the next milestone is 1,000.

Study LPU Online has crossed 300 active students. I'm not going to pretend that number doesn't matter to me. It does. A lot.

Not because of vanity metrics. But because 300 students is 300 people who made a choice to use something I built instead of the alternative — which was hunting WhatsApp groups for PDFs at 11pm before a midterm.

How it started

I was preparing for my own midterms at LPU. The problem was obvious to anyone who looked: there was no structured place to practice MCQs in a real exam environment. You either had old PDFs that may or may not be relevant, or you studied from textbooks that didn't look anything like the actual exam.

So I built what I needed. Unit-wise quizzes. A custom exam generator where you pick the subject, difficulty, number of questions, and duration. A real timer. A leaderboard so students could compete with each other and measure their progress honestly.

I launched it publicly on LinkedIn in March 2026. 70 likes on the first post. For a student-built EdTech product, that's not nothing.

What I learned

Building for a community you're part of is different from building for a target market. You already know what's broken. You already know the language. You know the exam codes (MTH166, ECE249, CSE111). You know the panic that sets in three days before a midterm.

That embedded knowledge is the product's main advantage. No amount of user research could have given me what I already had from living the problem.

Build something you would have desperately wanted to exist. Then give it to everyone who shares your frustration.

We added mentorship because I realised there was a human layer the platform couldn't solve on its own. 9+ expert mentors now run 1:1 sessions with students who need more than practice questions — they need someone who's been there to tell them what actually matters.

What's next

🎯 Next target: 1,000+ active students.

This achievement would not have been possible without the trust and support of the students, mentors, and contributors who showed up. We're just getting started. The platform will grow — more subjects, smarter AI mock tests, better mentorship matching. But the core will stay the same: structured, competitive, efficient preparation for every LPU student who deserves better tools.

If you're at LPU, try it here. Tell me what's broken. I'll fix it.
